About this course

The Laser Technician Programme sets out the fundamentals required for competence in laser and IPL hair reduction. It exists to ensure hair epilation with laser devices is practised correctly, to the highest standards of safety and informed patient care.

This five-day programme of theory and practical hands-on cases is the mandatory course for nurses, assistant nurses, beauty therapists and physicians who want to proceed to the Laser Technician licence in the UAE.

Accreditation and assessment

The programme is certified by the KHDA, the DHA, the MOH, the DHCC and the DOH, formerly HAAD. That coverage is what allows the certificate to be used towards a Laser Technician licence application across the Emirates, rather than in Dubai alone.

Competence is confirmed through the hands-on workshop, where practical technique is observed directly by the faculty.

  • Dr Azaiba Kara

    Laser practitioner

    A graduate of Yerala Medical College in India, holding a DHA licence as a laser practitioner and beauty therapist. She specialises in laser hair reduction, skin rejuvenation and both ablative and non-ablative lasers for skin and body, alongside skin health management, chemical peels, microdermabrasion, mesotherapy, cosmetology and body contouring. Her strength as a teacher is translating scientific material into practical knowledge students can use.

  • Dr Carmelo Crisafulli

    MD, specialist plastic surgeon

    A plastic surgery specialist with over ten years of experience in reconstructive, plastic and microsurgery, having practised in Mexico, the United States, Brazil, Spain, France, Romania and Italy. He teaches aesthetic lasers and skin resurfacing to doctors, and laser hair reduction to nurses and beauty therapists preparing for the Laser Technician licence. A graduate of the University of Messina, he holds memberships with AICPE, ISAPS and IPSN.

  • Dr Mario Trelles

    Plastic surgeon

    MD and PhD, general surgeon and plastic, aesthetic and reconstructive surgeon, holding an American Board Diploma for Lasers in Aesthetic Surgery. President of the European Society for Laser Aesthetic Surgery, the Spanish Laser Society and the European Laser Association, and author of more than 250 peer-reviewed articles.
