In 2017, Dr Kathrin Trelles worked with her father, the plastic surgeon and professor Dr Mario Trelles, to adapt his European medical instructional programmes for the UAE and the Middle East.

The timing was deliberate. Dubai had introduced regulations requiring medical practitioners to hold continuous education privileges and logs in order to obtain or renew a practising licence. At the same time, demand for aesthetic treatment across beauty, dentistry and cosmetic surgery was rising sharply while the number of specialist training centres in Dubai stayed limited, so practitioners were travelling abroad to advance their knowledge.

Vilafortuny is accredited by the KHDA and the DHA, and certifies professionals for CPD and CME credit points as part of their continuous education requirement. The centre runs curricula from basic through to advanced level across aesthetics, injectables, lasers, dermatology and bespoke healthcare programmes.
