Invisalign in Dubai

Invisalign is a clear aligner system developed by Align Technology that straightens teeth using a series of custom-made, removable, virtually invisible trays. Each aligner is worn for approximately one to two weeks before progressing to the next in the series - gradually moving the teeth towards their planned final position through precise, controlled forces.

At Vilafortuny, Invisalign treatment is planned using 3D digital scanning - no physical impressions - and a ClinCheck digital treatment plan that shows the projected movement of each tooth from start to finish before a single aligner is made. Patients see exactly where their teeth will end up before they commit to treatment. Dr. Saghi Helmi leads Invisalign treatment at Vilafortuny, bringing extensive experience in digital smile planning and clear aligner therapy for both adults and teenagers.

Invisalign Options at Vilafortuny

Invisalign is not a single product - it is a range of treatment options designed for different clinical complexities and patient profiles. The right option is selected based on the degree of tooth movement required and the patient's individual situation.

Complex cases Invisalign Full

The comprehensive treatment option for moderate to complex orthodontic cases - including significant crowding, spacing, and bite corrections. Unlimited aligner sets within the treatment plan. Refinement aligners included where additional movement is needed to achieve the final result. Treatment duration typically twelve to eighteen months. The most clinically versatile option in the Invisalign range.

Minor corrections Invisalign Lite

Designed for mild to moderate cases - minor crowding, minor spacing, or small relapse from previous orthodontic treatment. A fixed number of aligner sets (typically up to fourteen) within a shorter treatment timeline, usually six to twelve months. A more affordable entry point for patients whose cases are within the appropriate complexity range.

For teenagers Invisalign Teen

Designed specifically for teenage patients whose dentition may still be developing. Includes compliance indicators on the aligners - small blue dots that fade with wear, helping both the patient and parents monitor consistency of use. Replacement aligners included for lost or damaged sets. The same SmartTrack material and ClinCheck planning as adult Invisalign treatment.

Invisalign vs Fixed Braces - An Honest Comparison

Neither Invisalign nor fixed braces is universally superior - each has genuine advantages and specific clinical situations where it performs better. The right choice depends on the complexity of the case, the patient's lifestyle, and their commitment to the demands of each treatment type.

Invisalign advantages
  • Virtually invisible - most people will not notice aligners are being worn
  • Removable - no dietary restrictions and normal brushing and flossing throughout treatment
  • No fixed brackets or wires - no emergency appointments for broken brackets
  • Fewer check-up appointments required - typically every six to eight weeks
  • 3D digital preview of the expected result before treatment begins
  • Generally more comfortable than fixed braces - no sharp wire ends or bracket irritation
Where fixed braces have an advantage
  • More effective for complex bite corrections requiring significant jaw movement
  • Do not rely on patient compliance - braces work continuously regardless of behaviour
  • Better suited for certain tooth movements - significant rotations, intrusions, or extrusions that aligners manage less efficiently
  • May be more cost-effective for very complex cases requiring extended treatment timelines
  • No risk of forgetting to wear - a common issue particularly in younger patients with Invisalign

At Vilafortuny, Invisalign is recommended when it is genuinely the right clinical choice - not because it is the more popular option. For patients whose cases are better suited to fixed braces, we say so clearly and

The Invisalign Process at Vilafortuny
01
Consultation and 3D Scan

A clinical assessment and digital intraoral scan of your teeth is taken - no physical impressions needed. The scan data is used to create a precise 3D model of your current dental situation. Your clinician assesses suitability, discusses your concerns and goals, and explains the treatment options and estimated timeline.

02
ClinCheck Digital Treatment Plan

Using the 3D scan data, your clinician designs a digital treatment plan using Invisalign's ClinCheck software - mapping the precise movement of each tooth from its current position to its planned final position. You will see a 3D animation of exactly how your teeth will move throughout treatment before your first aligner is made. Any adjustments to the plan are made at this stage, before fabrication begins.

03
Aligner Fitting and Attachments

Your first set of aligners is fitted. In many cases, small tooth-coloured attachments - made of composite resin - are bonded to specific teeth at this stage. These act as handles that allow the aligners to apply more precise forces to individual teeth for specific movements. They are removed at the end of treatment and leave no permanent marks on the teeth.

04
Wearing Your Aligners

Each set of aligners is worn for one to two weeks - removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and oral hygiene. Aligners must be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day for treatment to progress as planned. You will switch to the next set on the schedule provided. Check-up appointments are typically every six to eight weeks to review progress and collect the next batch of aligners.

05
Refinements (where needed)

Near the end of treatment, a new scan may be taken to assess the final tooth positions against the planned outcome. Where minor additional movement is needed - which is common in complex cases - refinement aligners are prescribed to complete the result. This is a normal part of the Invisalign process and is included within the Invisalign Full treatment package.

06
Retainers

Retainers are provided at the end of active treatment and are essential for maintaining the result. Without retainers, teeth naturally drift over time. Fixed retainers - a thin wire bonded behind the front teeth - provide continuous retention without any action required from the patient. Removable retainers are worn nightly as a supplement or alternative. Your clinician will recommend the most appropriate retainer type for your case.

What Invisalign Can Treat
  • Crowding - teeth that are overlapping or twisted due to insufficient space in the arch
  • Spacing and gaps - diastemas between teeth, including the central gap, and general spacing throughout the arch
  • Mild to moderate overbite - upper front teeth that overlap the lower teeth vertically more than is normal
  • Underbite - lower teeth that sit in front of the upper teeth when biting
  • Crossbite - where some upper teeth sit inside the lower teeth when biting
  • Open bite - where upper and lower front teeth do not meet when the back teeth are closed
  • Orthodontic relapse - teeth that have drifted after previous orthodontic treatment due to insufficient retainer use
Caring for Your Aligners
  • Remove aligners before eating or drinking anything other than plain water - food and drink can stain the trays and trap bacteria between the aligner and the tooth surface
  • Brush your teeth before reinserting aligners after every meal - inserting aligners over food residue accelerates decay risk around the aligner margins
  • Clean aligners with a soft toothbrush and lukewarm water - not hot water, which can warp the material
  • Use the Invisalign cleaning crystals or a retainer cleaning tablet to deep-clean aligners weekly
  • Store aligners in the case provided whenever they are out of the mouth - the most common cause of lost aligners is being wrapped in a tissue or left on a table
  • Wear each set for the prescribed duration before moving to the next - advancing too quickly without adequate wear time compromises the accuracy of the tooth movement
  • Contact the clinic if an aligner is lost or damaged - a replacement can be ordered. Do not skip ahead to the next set without guidance from your clinician

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does Invisalign treatment take?

Treatment duration depends on the complexity of the case. Simple alignment corrections can take as few as six months with Invisalign Lite or Express. Moderate to complex cases typically take twelve to eighteen months with full Invisalign treatment. Most patients notice visible changes within the first few weeks of wearing their aligners. Your clinician will give you a personalised timeline at your consultation after reviewing your digital scan and treatment plan.

Do I have to wear the aligners all day?

Yes - for Invisalign to work effectively, aligners must be worn for 20 to 22 hours per day. They are removed only for eating, drinking anything other than water, and brushing and flossing. The more consistently aligners are worn, the more predictable and efficient the tooth movement. Irregular wear is the most common reason Invisalign treatment takes longer than planned.

Is Invisalign as effective as traditional braces?

For mild to moderate orthodontic issues - crowding, spacing, and certain bite corrections - Invisalign is clinically comparable to fixed braces in its ability to achieve the desired tooth movement. For more complex cases involving significant bite correction, severe crowding, or specific tooth movements that aligners cannot easily replicate, fixed braces may be the more appropriate recommendation. At Vilafortuny, the most suitable treatment is always recommended based on clinical assessment - not on preference.

What happens after Invisalign treatment is finished?

Once the final aligner set is complete, retainers are essential to maintain the result. Without retainers, teeth naturally drift back towards their original positions over time - this happens regardless of whether treatment was with Invisalign or fixed braces. At Vilafortuny, retainers are provided and the recommended wear schedule explained clearly. For most patients, retainers are worn nightly on a long-term basis to protect the investment made in their treatment.
